Yahoo! Search Support for 'NOYDIR' Meta Tags and Weather Update |

Yahoo! Search Support for 'NOYDIR' Meta Tags and Weather Update
We’re adding support for the Meta tag called ‘NOYDIR’ that will complement the ‘NOODP’ Meta tag, which we already support. If you’re unfamiliar, the ‘NOODP’ Meta tag is basically a way for webmasters to indicate that Open Directory Project (ODP) titles and abstracts will not be used in search results for their pages. While we continue to pull from various sources to provide the best title and abstract for a given page in search results, we realize that webmasters may still want the ability to exclude titles and abstracts from the Yahoo! Directory. So, as promised, we’re providing support for ‘NOYDIR’ which will recognize the following Meta tags on your pages:
or
For pages with this tag, we will not use Yahoo! Directory titles or abstracts for your URL in web search results. This will grant webmasters the ability to participate in the Yahoo! Directory Submit program and benefit from inclusion in the Yahoo! Directory, while maintaining control over URL titles and abstracts in search. This will not have any effect on the Yahoo! Directory Search experience, which will continue to use the Yahoo! Directory and title abstract information.
We are re-indexing content on the web to launch this change, and you should immediately begin to see the changes on Yahoo! US, Yahoo! Japan and Yahoo! Korea. (Other regions will roll-out in the future.) This will be accompanied by the usual ranking changes and page shuffling that is typical of weather updates.

Search Engine Optimization Technique |
Thursday, March 08, 2007 |
Search Engine Optimization Technique On the trend of Internet Marketing one of the major roles of the Search Engine is very important. On this article I will help you to achieve the right strategy in terms of optimization and placement. You can interact immediately using the strategy but this article is just an introduction of how you can position on the Search Engine, where other factors explained will take a lot of your time and effort, but I will assure you that you can earn knowledge after reading this articles. Take note of this and keep it in mind. One of the most and important things that I can give you is to build your site with your visitors in your mind. It means once you start your personal site make it sure that you have your own target market. Many site owners that I see don’t make much sense as a result of trouble of the webmaster in targeting keywords. You can have many visitors even thousand of it each day, but this is useless traffic when they exit your page out of frustration, and they never get back to your site.
Targeting the right keywords After considering the above note, you have to choose what your target markets are. Then choose your right keywords. Selecting keyword is very important as your targeting ads. You have to take full of your time, patience, and of course hard work to optimize your site. If you wanted to be on top rank in searching the right keyword try to use some of the Keyword tool provided by Google or any Top Paying Keyword site. Always consider your keyword as your product in Internet Marketing, and make it sure that your targeted is highly optimized, also as a tips make it sure that you target a phrase rather than a single word, for instance if you are targeting LOAN alone will not help you to optimize your site. There are millions of search results. But targeting “CAR LOAN”, “HOUSING LOAN”, or “STUDENT LOAN” will get you to be more realistic results. How to Optimize your site Let’s start with the basic of SEO. Although these things are irrelevance with other search engines this stands as the bare bones of optimizing your website, the tag and meta tags. However this component are still important in optimizing your website.
1: The TITLE tag Here is an example Title tag which should appear in-between the tags of your web page(s): Title Goes Here This tag is very important because search engine use it in their search results, in relation of your keyword. Some used this tag as an anchor text of their website. It is better if you have a short title because targeting too many keywords can give you a little chance to have a relevance search result. 2: The DESCRIPTION Meta Tag Here is an example description meta tag which should appear in-between the tags of your web page(s): The description meta tag is less important for optimization, but it is still utilized by the search engines. Google for example, will use the web pages body text, image alt tags, and yes even portions of the description meta tag will show at times. The body text and alt tags will be discussed later on in these articles. So in my opinion, it is important enough to use. The best way to use it is to place your keyword phrase inside this meta tag "once", then split up the phrase and add the keywords again separately. But keep it readable, and avoid too many comas. This can be viewed as "spam", so don't do it or your site could be black listed and ignored by search engines all together. Also, use two sentences maximum and avoid "sales pitches" like "The best shop ever", and so on. Here is a good description meta tag using the "watches" example above:
3: The KEYWORD Meta Tag Here is an example keyword meta tag which should appear in-between the tags of your web page(s): The keyword meta tag is believed one of the LEAST recognized meta tag by search engines. It carries very little weight when it comes to search engine optimization. However, it is not ignored by all engines. For example, through my own experiment, I have used a single keyword that had very little if any results when searching for it. After being indexed, SearchBliss had appeared at the top of MSN. The keyword was NO where else on SearchBliss. Only in the keyword meta tag. This says to me that some search engines DO give the keyword meta tag some weight. So as a result, I still use the keyword meta tag. |
